Theory- Tyrion’s Offer To Cersei

Hey, y’all,

I hadn’t given much thought to the cutoff conversation between Tyrion and Cersei in season 7 in which Tyrion was able to convince Cersei to join the fight against the dead. After watching the season opener, I started to think about it more.

I should preface this by saying that up until the season opener, I was convinced that Cersei was not pregnant. I thought that since they’d mentioned her pregnancy so much in the last season, and that Dany has mentioned several times that she could not get pregnant, that Cersei must be lying and Dany must be pregnant herself. But after watching episode one of the new season, I’m now convinced that Cersei decided to sleep with Euron to give her unborn baby some sort of legitimacy, now that Jamie has abandoned her.

I think that the offer that Tyrion made to Cersei has something to do with her unborn child. Either he offered it to be the heir to the iron throne after Dany passes away, or promised a marriage between Cersei’s baby and Dany’s baby. (Or both, contingent on Dany actually giving birth.) This would explain several mini mysteries in the last season:

1. Season 7, Episode 6: Dany and Tyrion have a heated argument over why Dany needs to have a way to choose a successor. He leaves the conversation obviously frustrated over her lack of care in the matter.

2. Season 7, Episode 7: The scene is cut off after Tyrion realizes that Cersei is pregnant, and she magically has changed her mind at that point…therefore some sort of worthy offer has been made on Tyrion’s part.

3. Season 7, Episode 7: We are shown Tyrion creeping on Jon and Dany getting busy on the ship. He looks concerned about their hookup, and at the time, many viewers thought that Tyrion had developed feelings for Dany and was displaying jealousy. I think that he was showing anxiety about the possibility of Dany conceiving an heir with Jon.

4. Season 8, Episode 1: Tyrion says to Sansa: “She {Cersei} has something to live for now. I believe she wants to survive.”

It’s always been known that the only thing Cersei truly cares about is her children, so regardless of the specifics, I think Tyrion’s deal must’ve had SOMETHING to do with the unborn child.

If Episode 2 proves me completely wrong, or if this theory has already been circling or disproved on Reddit, feel free to disregard.

Keep up the good work,
