Thoughts On True Detective S3E7

Hey Guys,

Longtime listener, first time writer. I wanted to get some of my initial reactions to episode 7 to you to see if you shared the same thoughts.

My top 3 moments of the episode:

3) the interview. how was it that easy for Eliza, the investigator, to figure out what took us 6 episodes to learn. Manipulation is a theme in this season. Wayne manipulates Roland to continue the investigation and go after Harris. Wayne manipulates Eliza into telling him all she’s uncovered about the case. Amazing watching Wayne pull information from her under the false assumption that he was too old to remember. And Yay for the callback to season one in the newspaper clippings.

2) there actually was a car sitting on his house. All this time I thought he was sundowning since Wayne’s other delusions happened at night. I assumed the scene in episode 4 with shadows in the background were of dead men, more directly men that Wayne had killed. And further that the man in a suit was Harris, the Hoyt security guy. Any bets on who might be in the car. Who would still care that people are interested in what happened in this case?

1) the fourth timeline. Becca was alive and made it to roughly 18 years old. I was afraid the storyline would lead to her kidnapping which would annoy me. But why show her now and why introduce a fourth timeline. The previews show Amelia, Wayne’s wife, with a new hairstyle. The lead characters have different hairstyles in each time jump. It looks like she is teaching older students perhaps at a two or four year college.

That’s all I got. Thanks for breaking down some of my favorite shows.
