Hey Guys,

Umm, actually, this is only partially an “umm, actually”. I’m thrilled that you guys loved this episode as much as I did and thought the Instacast was excellent. That said, I had planned to add a snarky but good-natured addendum to this email to say that a great bonus to come out of this episode was that you guys would have heard the name Akecheta enough times to finally end the butchering. Alas, no. If we take our pronunciation cues from everyone’s favorite authoritative Welshman, the name is “Ah-KEETCH-uh-tah. Not Ak-chedda. Not Ak-a-cheddar. Please, gentlemen, I adore the pod and loathe nit-pickers and trolls, but I have to admit that it somewhat distracts from your excellent content to hear the wrong name 30 or so times in just over half an hour.

Much love,
Karl

P.S. I didn’t take Maeve’s quoting Akecheta’s line about taking her heart when he goes as a sign of a grand conspiracy that she was actually his love in a former life, or even that she was overhearing his conversation with her daughter. I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that he was talking to Maeve the whole time, that she was the one to whom he was telling his story. When he switched to English on occasion, he seemed to be speaking directly to the daughter, but the vast majority of his tale was told in Lakota and I’m pretty sure he knew he was telling it to Maeve. Thanks as always and keep up the good work.
