One of the things you didn’t mention was Ozymandus and the Game Warden’s conversation. The game warden told Ozy previously that the one rule was not to leave. In this episode we learned that he was the first man made. So in my mind it was like a child abandoned. So as Ozymandus tried to leave, the game warden felt like a father trying to abandon him/them again.

So while Ozymandus feels like he is in a prison, how to does the Phillips and Crookshanks feel in-prisoned as their only purpose is to make their master happy, but there is nothing they can do to make Ozymandus happy, because they aren’t human, and do not need to be saved.
