Westworld: Bernard’s Storyline

I’m rewatching season 1 (again) and thinking:
As Bernard is a host, programmed by Ford, when he has his secret sessions with Dolores, wouldn’t they have been put into his loop by Ford too? Therefore Bernard’s intent to make Dolores aware would have all been put into his storyline by Ford. Or, is Bernard a hybrid with free will to do that on his own?
