Westworld – Big D’s Arnold “Theory”

Hey Guys,

Just listened to your deep dive into Westworld S02E02 and have this to say about Big D’s “theory” about Arnold. It’s not true that the Delos people didn’t know anything about Arnold and his death. Just rewatch S01E05. At about the 6 min mark, Dolores, WIlliam, and Logan are entering Pariah. Logan is talking to William:

Logan says “Rumor is that they are hemorrhaging cash. We’re considering buying them out. Supposedly this place was all started by a partnership. Then right before the park opened, one of the partners killed himself. Set the park into a free fall. I mean I don’t know any of the details about it. I don’t even know his name.”

William asks “You must have a team of lawyers looking at this place?”

Logan replies “Uh huh, and they came up empty. He’s a complete mystery, not even a picture.”

So I think it is more likely that things transpired exactly as we were shown in S01, and that Ford cleaned up all traces of Arnold, just as Bernard cleaned up all traces of his relationship with Theresa. Then he didn’t create Bernard until years later when all people who had interacted with Arnold had left the park.
