Westworld Episode 7 “Les Ecorches” Thoughts
Another name for the Valley Beyond would be the Undiscovered Country.
When Logan stated that ‘we aren’t here yet’, he was right. Ford and Arnold hadn’t made true A.I. But they did discover how to seed their hosts with the beginnings of awareness. Like Bernard is seeded with Arnold but not truly Arnold.
We are often reminded by Ford (and in multiple Previously Ons ) that perhaps we could bring forth Lazarus.
Not only have they been storing the DNA/Memory of people today – they have been digging up old long dead DNA and combining personalities together to kickstart the hosts. DNA has an incredibly long half-life.
So when Maeve longs for her child, it is true. Mauve personality is based on a real person – or multiple people – and that person had a daughter. And Maeve’s Host Daughter may also have been seeded with that person’s daughter. Either by Ford’s design or by accident these two ‘souls’ meet again. So the connection is ‘real’.
So when Peter Abernathy says ‘Hell is empty and the devils are all here.’ he means that the vicious humans that have died and gone to hell are now back. It’s from a Host’s point of view.
If this is what is going on then the tribe’s name and odd behavior makes sense – Ghost Nation.
I don’t think you’ve ever discussed this and I’m not a redit user so I don’t know if this is a going theory.
And from a writers point of view they need another big reveal.
