My Westworld Fake Theory Has Legs

Could it be that the crazy fake theory I totally made up is the one that’s correct?
I made a joke that Star Trek was an inspiration for Arnold when he created this world.
But I made the point that he can, and did, draw from the entire history of western civilization as source material.
This same reasoning explains and reconciles the show’s music. Expertly crafted by Ramin Djawadi,
and brilliantly integrated by the show-runners, we watchers hear songs we recognize. Because those actual songs were Arnold’s source material. He’s the ultimate plagiarist.
And that’s why all the literary tie-ins. Fans have literally citied dozens dozens of books, or shows movies where parallels can be drawn the Westworld. The show often feels like source-material overkill: classical literature, westerns, religion, science fiction, pop culture all smushed together.
And perhaps, even with colossal processing power, Arnold can’t invent any ORIGINAL narratives, or music, of means of expression, because he can only “improvise from source material”? The entire history of western civilization as source material, but still.
And you could arguably say that human’s history had been dominated by fucking and fighting.
I could go on about Host commands phrased as requests,
And the significance of “Turn the other cheek…”,
And how the Hosts are hosts on a server,
But I’ll save it.

- The humans are the ones being unknowingly controlled.
(Except Ford. He’s doomed to be trapped in this loop, not allowed to die, commanded to stay here and do this. To keep it from weaponizing? Seems like there’s more to it than that…)

I’m not sure I’m prepared to follow you all the way down this tin-foil tunnel, but something you said really struck a nerve:

If Westworld were created by artificial intelligence, it stands to reason that it only could draw from source material. Basically, someone tells a program, “OK, make something alluring and addictive and interesting,” and the programs chugs along and finds the best stuff in history that would mesh together. Uncanny!
