Hey Lady/Gents,

I listen to your podcasts every time I’m going to and from work so I greatly appreciate all of the work that you put for 3 epidsodes week to week.

I have a foil-y theory about the meaning behind “Phase Space as the title for the 6th episode. I think that it has a literal meaning within the story line; the cradle may be this area where the hosts phase into consciousness. In addition, in the context of the show I think (and hope) that this marks the point in the series where they change and a phase into a new show feeling. I, like you, felt a bit bored and annoyed with S5E2, however I felt that it was a bit of a throwback episode. Each storyline took place in “Sweetwater” and each story focused on character developments that we’ve already been through in season 1. These developments have different contexts in season 2, but essentially Dolores/Teddy’s relationship struggles because of her warriness about the future and Maeve finds her new skill sets and establishes emotional connections to those around her. So, in this context I think that the series is about to take a giant leap towards a new frame of narrative. They used an episode that felt like season 1 to really highlightt the differences that are about to go down. I love this show, but I am hopeful for a shake up.

Side note: I don’t think the drinking was William’s fidelity test for Emily. I think he intentionally made the elephant mistake and it clarified that she was real and the look on his face was the fear and realization that Ford didn’t make a host to screw with his journey. Instead she was likely put on this path by someone (Ford) who wants to truly hurt and play with him pyschologically and emotionally.

Keep doing what your doin.
Y’all are great,
Zach Collen
