My thoughts are in season 3 of Westworld and episode 8 first off I’ll re-evaluate my ratings for this season’s and start with this episode I would give this episode a 10 out of 10 equal to the previous endings and emotional satisfaction given by the other endings of the other seasons . I’d reevaluate this season as an 8 maybe eight and a half out of 10. So why not a 10 out of 10 ? well some of it is what happened in this episode or didn’t happen and some of it is still the basic structure of the season I still feel like I know they were trying to hide dolores’s true plan, but I still feel like there was needlessly hiding things that would have helped make the story more cohesive it’s still feels a little bit like when you watch the season you’re not getting enough information to get why anyone is doing what they’re doing. My other thing is I don’t entirely understand why Charlotte went totally against humanity after falling in love with Charlotte Hale’s Family unit, basically it didn’t quite make sense to me.

The things I was happy about is I was happy about the endings we got for Dolores and Maeve this season it felt like we had some real satisfying endings for Dolores like in the end she came back to the person she was but wiser who appreciated the beauty in life and that felt good and appropriate.

We had lines that reminded us of the beginning of our meeting with Maeve and that also felt good and BernArnold had some nice emotional catharsis with his wife or rather Bernard had with Arnold’s wife and finally got free to become more similar to caleb and William. I’m still somewhat frustrated that they spent most of the Season having Bernard just follow along and not really do anything.

I mean it pretty much could have skipped most of his story and done one episode with him. Now I am glad to see that one of my theories however shallow was right about the color of the clothes people were wearing it did represent either a dedication to a certain cause or a certain race because Charlotte changes her clothing options from white to black after the death of the Charlotte Hale’s family and when we see William again in that final scene we see that he’s wearing black now we know it’s really cuz he has a powerful feeling while he’s wearing black but while he may think he’s there to save Humanity it’s actually a representation of his new clone host self who is now the man in Black again and is now dedicated to the cause of the hosts which you could say he kind of was in season 1 as well the human version. So it’s an unconscious a signal that the man in Black’s devotion to humanity is going to switch back to hosts even if it is involuntarily. And then he dies and I feel like this was perhaps the most tragic because from my viewer story perspective we never get to see him react to Dolores death now that she’s really dead apparently and we never really get to see him evolve beyond what he was I mean all that stuff that he has them what little changes he did this season and the journey made that’s all ended because presumably this new robot version of him doesn’t have any of those memories or probably any of the memories from season 2. In fact I don’t know how they have any of his memories since all his data was supposed to be in the Forge and as far as we know all of that was lost when original Dolores deleted the forge with all of its human data, at least I thought she did. So while there might be robot versions of William in the future somehow they won’t have the memories of season 3 William and somehow from that last scene from last year so now they will have his memories at least up to the ending of season 2 somehow even though the forge was gone by that point. So if there is any fly in the ointment it was that the William got killed without his memories being preserved and we’ll never get to see original Williams reaction to real dolores’s death. or her reaction to his . I mean it is kind of poetic that the original Dolores in the original William die about a few days apart from each other seemingly. In a Romeo and Juliet kind of way a doomed love which is definitely what this was even if it turned to rage in the end . but I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get to see any of that potential character growth and change actually expressed I mean as soon as he had it he was out he got a gun and then he’s dead so we didn’t really get to see how he had changed if at all. at least that seems to be something did Arnold Caleb and William did is they all got to learn to let go of the Demons of the past and choose who they want to be in the future so they were all free final . however this new hosts man and black and I will only call him that until he shows otherwise is at best a car picture of William he only represents one narrow expression of what William was at some part of his life and not what he had become or even what he had really been I mean I say this is specially since I best he seems it could have been made from Charlotte’s memories of him which you know have some knowledge of them but that’s not the same as a recording of your actual thoughts and memories and actions. If there’s anything that’s a little unsatisfying also is the new character Caleb well I think he had a good final episode I feel like his story was dragged out and foreshadowed so strongly that they pretty much could have done his story in like 3 or less episodes and gotten to the same spot much sooner in the season plus I’m a little annoyed he just didn’t have a very active role to season much like Bernard maybe that’ll change and season for assuming it doesn’t time skip completely passed that point because let’s face it rebuilding the world is the thing that will take Generations so Caleb’s going to be long dead before that process completes unless they turn him into a host at some. I thought the Dolores was playing him right up into the reveal because when he put the Pearl back in her robot body he s a question and she said how did you get here Caleb and that’s the exact same phrase that used in the augmented reality reprogramming his memories sessions that turned his memories of how his friend died in to he died in the war or something and I thought so it’s like when people say freeze all motor functions or dream of a dream deep and dreamless sleep and that affects the host of the day can be reprogrammed I thought that was what she was doing at first. I think we will go back to the parks next season but not to the pretend World cuz if Charlotte raising an army of hosts to conquer the world may may need an army composed of humans and hosts to help fight her and where do we know that there’s still some technology and people with the expertise to create host bodies all the technicians at the park in Westworld in the other parts and we might just might see Felix and Sylvester again cuz they’re still hanging out there seeing if they’re going to get fired. in the thing to remember about those outliers is the vinod all just crazy peoples are violent psychotics they’re also the creators of humanity artists and innovators people push forward the sciences and transform cultures like these are the people who you hear about Einstein Newton Thomas Jefferson and all the others who helped push Humanity forwarding keep going if roe jabon can’t predict them then there’s no way he can predict for certain a future that means the death of humanity just that there will be chaos for a long time but you might result in death or rebirth then there’s no way he can predict for certain a future that means the death of humanity just that there will be chaos for a long time which might result in death or rebirth of the world.
