Who Stabbed Whom?

Hi, Guys,

Firstly just wanted to say I”ve been listening to your podcast for the last few years now and it has enhanced my experience of Game of Thrones immensely, so thank you.

You really seem to hit the nail on the head in describing how I reacted to this episode in your Instacast.

That switch from the first half of the episode to the second was definitely far too abruptly, although ultimately I was grateful for the resolution of each character that we were given. I just wasn’t too keen on the way that they did it.

My biggest issue lies with the massive plot hole around Greyworm. At the end of the scene when Drogon flies Dany off, I could not help but think ‘how is Jon going to explain this”? I fully expected a scene in which Greyworm enters and kills Jon instantly. I mean how does one explain to the commander of war that he has just killed their General without any blood being shed?

The fact that Dany had just been murdered and Greyworm was bloodthirsty from war as we saw in the earlier scenes, and also believed in the same gran plan, really threw me when we discover a few weeks later that he has only taken Jon, prisoner. This guy is in command of the strongest army in Westeros at this time, nobody in that court of lords at the dragon pit had anywhere near the military power that Greyworm was in control of, yet there was no military coup to take over and rule tribute to his commander’s grand plan. That I found the oddest plot twist.

I was surprised that Bran took the throne, however, the more I think about it the more it makes sense. Varys himself had said the Seven kingdoms needed to be ruled by somebody who didn’t want to be a leader and also who was not interested in making the decisions and would allow that to be done by the council, which is ultimately what we were left with. So Varys got his way.

One thing I did enjoy, was the way that during Jon and Dany”s last kiss you hear a knife going in but you do not know which way. I enjoyed the suspense of a few seconds doubts as to who has killed who. I would have liked to have seen Jon breakdown in a much more grief-stricken way.

Other than that all there is for me to say is thank you for Enhancing each episode and my understanding of Game of Thrones and making it a much more rounded enjoyment of such a great series, can’t wait for the deep dive and small council.
