Hi Guys,

I have really enjoyed all of your analysis and insights over this Westworld season. Keep up the great work!

I too had high hopes after the world-building we witnessed in Episode 1. Unfortunately, towards the end of the season I think I was flat-out hate watching this show. The hundreds of narrative holes in the overall story just demonstrated that “No-Joy” either are too lazy or just not interested to provide us with a cogent/ cohesive story. So it should be no surprise that I thought the finale was the worst finale in memory.

What was surprising (to me) was that while watching the final episode I experienced something that I had never before experienced with Westworld: boredom. Everything that happened before the credits seemed like one, long, slow ongoing exposition dump from one character to the next. I actually fell asleep a few times and had to keep going back to pick it up. Even the Bernard scene which you guys liked fell completely flat for me, as none of the emotion felt earned. How many years has it been since we’ve even heard the name Charlie?

I felt like Villanelle from “Killing Eve” standing in the middle of an art museum yelling “BOOOORING!”

Getting a possible answer to the shows most essential question with a throw-away line: “Free Will- it’s fucking hard”- it felt like a joke. And a very bad one. One that you laugh at only because it’s so bad.

While the cinematography and music choices deserve A+ grades, and the acting is usually outstanding: the narrative is rambling, often nonsensical, and not tight by any standard. As has been previously pointed out ad nauseum, the action sequences are continuously ludicrous. Needless to say, I will not be watching any future seasons. I should have learned my lesson when they left Elsie in a cave for a season and a half.

I will certainly be tuning in to listen to your future projects for any other shows I will be watching.

Thank you, you guys do great work,

James C.
