You Missed the Point with Anamorphic Lenses for Cradle

Hey Guys,

I was listening to the telegraph and one listener email mentioned that they didn’t merely crop the footage to 2:35 in cradle scenes. They shot those scenes with anamorphic lenses which have very different characteristics to them.

One important signature is the shape of the bokeh (check out the image I attached)

in trailers they scale up the cradle scenes so you can’t tell the difference. however if you keep an eye on the bokeh shapes you can tell which shots on the trailer will be in cradle and which ones not. also, for any reason they don’t show a scene with black bars we can still tell what it is intended to be.
