Angela And Cal’s Relationship

Hey guys,

I love that you finally touched on Angela and Cal’s relationship. I’ve been following this since the show premiered and am secretly hoping it continues the way it’s been so far. The role reversal has been masterfully subtle. While Cal is clearly the domestic of the house and primary caregiver of the children, the other aspects are less obvious. He is the calming influence that relieves Angela of her burdens and provides the stress relief needed by the strong lead. What really sold me on this performance and won me over was when danger threatened the family Cal, this big tall strong man, instead of morphing into the traditional male role of protector immediately defered to Angela’s superior ability to protect the family. I feel in any else’s hands it would have been more pronounced with big neon signs shouting about what a thing this is and aren’t we so smart! Instead, Lindelof has left it there for the viewer to see or not see. I appreciate writing that respects the intelligence of it’s viewers.
