Blood Sacrifices

Howdy!

I just rewatched “Contrapasso” and was struck by the scene in which the Man In Black executes Lawrence. At a certain point, upon seeing that Teddy is not doing so hot, MIB sends (early model aka bloodless) young Ford for water (remarking “He’s too small”), tells Lawrence that it was Teddy’s path, not his, that brought him there, and proceeds to slit Lawrence’s throat and hang him upside down, collecting his blood in a water sack.

The next we see the Man In Black, he has successfully revived Teddy. He implies that he performed a blood transfusion, saying “You’ve got a couple of ounces of Lawrence swirling around in you.” We never did see that very complicated procedure take place though.

In the latest episode, with so much talk of blood sacrifice, I wonder if there is a literal value for blood. Maybe the blood that runs the new model hosts is in scarce supply, or carries some significance as to who the donor is. Teresa’s death was relatively bloodless, right? Could it be that her blood is needed to operate a new host?

That’s all I’ve got. Hopefully, 1000 other people didn’t already beat me to it. Love the podcast, y’all rule!

Thank you, –Hot Juan
