Charlores in the NYC Olympiad Building

Hey crew!

Just gonna jump right into this theory- I think there is something about being an ‘outlier’ that affects how well you resist the fly parasite. When Charlores asked Caleb how he was able to defy her, he is interrupted by Maeve and we don’t get an answer. I don’t think Caleb was about to say “it’s because I’m an outlier”, but I do think that is what’s going on here. In the 23 years in the future timeline that Frankie & Bernard are in, Jay says he wants to take their crew to retrieve an outlier before they are hunted. It seems to me that outliers are resistant (either partially or completely) to the fly parasite and thats why they live off the grid and band together. It also makes sense that being an outlier is genetic, Caleb’s mom was schizophrenic (if I’m not mistaken, someone please correct me if I’m wrong) and Caleb was an outlier too. So if Frankie is his biological daughter, it isn’t a stretch to think she would be an outlier as well. It’s also perfectly plausible that even if she isn’t his bio daughter that she could still be an outlier.

I also think this could explain why the future Charlores in the NYC Olympiad building is bringing back Caleb. Charlores has conquered the world to some extent, but she clearly has not succeeded in extinguishing the outlier population that lives off the grid and operates as a resistance to her plans. In the same way Charlores used host-child-Frankie to lure human-Caleb in, she may be planning to use host-Caleb to lure in and capture these outliers led by human-Frankie and ultimately exterminate them once and for all. Or maybe not, this is Westworld after all!

PS) apologies if someone has already proposed this theory! I haven’t listened to this weeks podcasts yet but I’ve been ruminating on this since Sunday night and finally found the time to write in!

Thanks again for all you do,
