Episode 8 felt unnatural

Hey guys, this is Cody O’Brien again.

Thank you guys for featuring my theory on last week’s newsstand episode. It was cool hearing your thoughts on it.

Now I’d hate to say it, but I wasn’t a fan of Episode 8. I was actually surprised to hear that you guys and a lot of other people liked it so much. I didn’t really buy any of the scenes with Angela. I don’t think that’s how this character would’ve acted in a situation where a guy claiming to be Dr. Manhattan is pretty much hitting on her when she’s clearly wanting to be alone. I also really didn’t like her reaction to the reveal that she might’ve started the whole thing. It just didn’t seem genuine. But my biggest problem with the episode is how they handled Dr. Manhattan’s powers. In this episode, Dr. Manhattan makes decisions and acts in the present moment based on things that he’s aware of happening in the future. That doesn’t really make sense. And you can’t just say that’s how Dr. Manhattan experiences time because it’s really not. He experiences the past, present and future simultaneously, so he knows what’s going to happen in the future, but he can’t change it. In the comic, Dr. Manhattan always meets the future naturally. He doesn’t do something in the present because of the future. When he meets Angela, it’s not because of anything that’s actually happening. It’s only because of what will happen in the future. That’s not how Dr. Manhattan works.

I don’t like that this whole story has happened because of Dr. Manhattan and the only way for it to happen that way was to change Dr. Manhattan’s powers. It kind of ruins the whole thing when I think about it that way.

What do you guys think?

Keep up the good work.

Regards,
Cody
