GOT – Sansa Rightful Queen Of The North?!?

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hi Guys!

I’m writing in as a long time listener first time writer as I’ve binged listened to your podcasts whilst catching up on GOT S7 and Westworld S1&2 (which I wouldn’t have gotten through without you do a big thank you for enhancing my viewing pleasure!)

As I am finally up to date I wanted to get involved in the conversation with an observation everyone seems to have missed (or no one else thinks is important).

This latest episode was leaked in Germany under the title “The Rightful Queen” but when released had its official title “A Knight of Seven Kingdoms”. You guys touched on the leaked name in the instacast but didn’t explore this further in the deep dive. I think it is worth dwelling on the concept of “birth rights” as this could be a major clue as to who might end up ruling at the end of the show. ( If anyone is left!)

The title “The Rightful Queen” got me thinking as you guys mentioned this in relation to Dany’s tête-à-tête with Sansa. Is this the double D’s indicating that Sansa is the Rightful Queen of the North? Now we know that Jon is not a child of House Starks’ male line, in lineage terms he is classed as a Targarean. This is the big story that everyone is focusing on as it means he is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. BUT…
It therefore also means that “The Rightful Queen” would relate to Sansa NOT Dany. And relate to Sansa as the Rightful Queen of the North, as she is the oldest living descendent of House Stark(and we are discounting Bran with a male trump card considering the whole 3 eyed Raven thing). This makes Sansa at the very least the rightful Warden of the North. In this scene Sansa was asking Dany about after the war, Sansa says “What about the North? We took it back, we said we would never bow to anyone else again, what about the north?” Is this foreshadowing what her position will be as leader of House Stark and the North? If Jon makes it through the war of the dead and then the war with Cersei and takes his “Rightful” seat on the Iron Stone, I am pretty sure he wouldn’t force a Stark ruler of the North (Queen Sansa) bend the knee to him.

There’s lots of if’s and but’s with this theory but I thought I would write in as it’s not an observation I have come across anywhere.

Keep up the amazing work!
