Holy Shit, I Just Had A Breakthrough

Ok, fuck. This was a big one I caught on the second rewatch of this episode Riddle of the Sphinx . I kept asking myself why the James Delos iterations weren’t working. But also, if the goal was for his mind to accept the host/clone body, why were they testing his ability to stay on script? Shouldn’t they (William and techs) want Delos to be able to go off script and improvise like a woke host? YES. But they didn’t have The Maze that Arnold had created for Dolores and the other original hosts! William didn’t know about it. He and the techs had no path for the Delos clone to achieve consciousness and thus be able to appear and perform as a human. Had they been privy to The Maze and path to woke-status the James Delos Experiment May have succeeded.
