Homo Deus & Westworld

Hello,

I keep waiting for someone to mention the book “Homo Deus” by Yuval Noah Harari during your podcast as it relates to Westworld.

I don’t know if any of you have read it, but I feel like the writers of Westworld must have. While in my opinion it’s not as great as Harari’s previous book “Sapiens”, it touches on and goes into many of the themes of Westworld; free will, especially as it relates to the coming of AI is one of the main topics of the book.

Anyhow, check it out if you get a chance, and keep up the good work.

Love the podcast,

Sincerely,

I also felt like they were inspired by this book in season 3, and, actually just found an interview with the creators that confirmed my feelings:

OMG Yes! I’m on the last 50 pages of homo deus and Harari basically gave them an outline for season 3 in the latter half of his book. He goes so far as to break down humanity into algorithmic processes and describes how AI will inevitably know is better than we can know ourselves. Dude deserves a screenwriting credit.

So I am not as familiar with Harari as I am some of the other authors people have written in about lately. I am moving this to the top of my WW reading list!
