How Has This Theory Not Seen the Light of Day???

Have a Theory? Share It Now!
Hopefully this email will make the cut due to an observation that I think has been staring us in the face the whole time and that I have not heard addressed even once.
Why is it that we take for granted that Westworld likely is not publicly known to the outside world???…or even legal for matter? This is not some sort of grand theory but if you roll it around a bit it changes the story ever so slightly and gives some motivations that otherwise might not be clear. Think about it, it makes total sense that Arnold and Ford played loose and fast with legality and ethics to accomplish their goals. Enter Delos. We have no reason at all to believe they are not willing to break the law as a means to an end. It adds up that everything we are seeing and have seen is an underground, clandestine operation. The super rich are privy to the amusement park secret and Delos is privy to the almost certain illegal cloning farm that is goings on at Glory. Not only does it make sense in regard to the current story, it makes all the sense in the world in regard to the future of the story. When hosts escape Westworld they are going to encounter the real world. If folks on the outside already know all about Westworld then they know all about the hosts; or at least that there is a place where robots are legit. There is no revelation to be had; that toothpaste is out. But if they DON’T know…if Delos and Ford has succeeded in keeping it a secret…”Wait…wait…there are robots that can do WHAT?” Hell, this one fact could be the thing that Arnold wanted and which Ford vehemently disagreed: to present their creation to the world or not.
The evidence
* I can’t remember one single scene which contains evidence that the outside world has any knowledge whatsoever of Westworld.
* The fact that the staff seems to perpetually live in the park. One way that Delos could assure their employees don’t spread the word is to simply keep them inside the park. Sure, it’s assumed they rotate off at some point but this doesn’t seem to happen often and my next point shows why they may not be too excited to spill the beans.
* Delos would kill anyone who tried to let the word out and it’s probably well known that they have. This explains the utter fear that many employees exhibit when their termination seems likely. Westworld is simply a deadly secret.
* When Angela presents to Logan on behalf of Delos he mentions something about the uber secretive nature of their dealings. I surmise this is b/c everything Ford/Arnold has been doing is illegal. And when he is shown the REAL presentation his mind is so blown he says “We aren’t here yet!” It’s totally likely that something that is so far advanced that the son of the worlds leading bio-tech firm goes banana sandwich over is wayyy off the legal books. There is no concern if he goes off and tells the media…no one would believe him b/c “We aren’t here yet!”
* When we see young William bring several hosts to the outside world to Daddy Delos’s retirement party, DD is visibly worried by it. William assures him, “don’t worry, none of them will get out.” Pair that with the fact that no one else at the party seems to know anything about it. DD is worried about the secret.
* Delos has a mother sucking mercenary army. What do they use this army for? NOT saving people from killer androids that’s what. They don’t want to save people. It looks to me the whole QA strike teams are there to wipe up witnesses as much as they are bring the hosts to heel. That’s b/c we’re in code red. Get the goods, kill witnesses, and deny deny. I see this story flowing from that idea and the idea that hosts will escape the park. Can’t you just see the story line where Delos is pulling all the stops to cover up all the shenanigans that Delores, or whoever, is going to cause in the outside world while she, or whoever, is fighting to prove their existence?
* Oh and did I forget to mention that this explains why the park is ON A FUCKING PRIVATE ISLAND!
I think I could go on but you’ll probably already have to shave it down. I think it’s a solid little theory and I hope you guys (and girl) like it. Dig the podcast, keep it up, and Roll Tide!

How would you explain the Delos Website : https://delosdestinations.com/ ? It’s an in-world website for park visitors to plan and reserve their stays in the Delos’ Parks. -BigD
First off, it’s awesome that you responded with a follow-up. Thanks.
Admittedly I did not think about that website b/c I would classify myself as a “slightly more than casual” viewer. Into it enough to listen to you guys but not enough to delve into a fan service Delos website. My first explanation is pretty simplistic in that the website is simply like I said, fanfare. It’s a promo in OUR world in the form of an in-world website. As far as I know, there’s no show proof that this website is in actual existence in the Westworld-verse…West-verse? I’m saying it could just be a clever ad to get email subscriptions.
But I must concede, it is a piece of evidence contrary to my theory no matter how strong. So, my explanation with that in mind is also simple: after briefly viewing the website for the first time just now I did not see any overt references to what the parks really are. I went in with some confirmation bias so I kept asking myself, “Can what I’m reading lead me to reasonably suspect there are androids that I couldn’t distinguish from any other human?” The answer is no and since it’s no then there is no way any reasonable in-world Joe could come to the conclusions that the parks are anything more than dress-up getaways for the super rich. Isn’t this why the scene with Logan and Angela is so powerful? It’s absolutely unbelievable. So even if the website DID say “We have androids and they’re just like you” those words do not explain the Hosts. Grant and Sadler knew they were going to be shown some form of prehistoric re-creation at Jurassic Park but that knowledge didn’t prepare them for the brachiosaurus (that project probably wasn’t legal either); they still lost their shit. The comparison to JP is another topic I’d love to get into but I’ve digressed enough.
You definitely poked a hole in my theory but I think it’s a small one. Thanks for the reply again…ya’lls passion for what you do is very refreshing.
