Logan Is the Man in Black and William’s Conscience

Have a Theory? Share It Now!
Dear Hosts 😉
Thanks for taking the time to explore Westworld. I greatly enjoy listening to the theories and appreciate all the investigating that’s being done. The last telegraph mail reading presented a few angles that led me to a different theory: Going with the concept of a multiple timeline format, is it possible that Logan is the Man in Black and William’s conscience gets transferred into Teddy? I have seen at least one article online about this, and would love to hear your takes on it.
Logan as the Man in Black is more favorable to me because their traits line up. They are both wild, no-holds barred characters. They dress similarly, from the black coat and vest to the fully buttoned up collar and similar tie knot. Logan has been coming to the park longer than William has, and has a better grasp of what the game is about. He has no qualms about fully engaging with the robots. From having sex with them to shooting them, he doesn’t bat an eye. Logan also comes from money, something the Man in Black seems to share in common. Is it possible that Logan goes through something devastating, such as losing William to Westworld, and decides to delve deeper into the world to find an answer? (to what question, I don’t know yet.)
William, on the other hand, seems more similar to Teddy. They are both sincere and good willed, prefer trail adventures to rape and killing, and interact with Dolores in the same manner. They both wear plaid shirts with an unbuttoned open collar, and non-black colors. I personally don’t think William’s character would ever be capable of treating robots the way the Man in Black does. I believe William cares too much for them, and that this will get him into deep trouble later on. Perhaps in the future, Teddy possesses William’s character conscience, but is controlled and therefore can only replay William’s hopeless romance day after day.
This would bring extra meaning to the Man in Black’s line to Teddy, “You are not the man you think you are.”
As for the part where Dolores gets shot and finds her way to William and Logan:
People are saying that she has is foresight, or is seeing into the future. What if she isn’t looking into the future, but remembering the past? She may have remembered herself when she got shot thirty years ago.. maybe on that day, she escaped (before or after rape) and stumbled upon William and Logan, beginning the series of events that lead to her ability to pull the trigger 30 years later.
Just food for thought. Thanks again! – Sandy
