Hello,

As always I enjoyed your insta-cast on episode 2 of WW. With the way things are in this new normal the three of you really are a needed break that I am sure doesn’t just help me but many others too.

I do believe that you made one mistake. I felt it was important to write to you and let you know since I am sure that no one else ever tells you that you are mistaken about something, no need to thank me really. You kept saying on your podcast that Maeve met Serac. I don’t believe that to be true, I believe that was really an avatar for Rehoboam.

Lets follow the chain of events. Maeve realizes she is in the Matrix…err… a simulation. She orders the incredibly strong and surprisingly durable maintenance robot to grab her pearl and make a run for it. The robot makes a valiant attempt but is gunned down and the pearl retrieved. We also know through Bernard’s story line that Maeve’s physical body is back in WW, and remember Bernard’s tracker points to one host, not a room where multiple copies of Maeves are kept. So what is more likely? That there is somehow a duplicate body was made for Maeve so that she can awaken and meet the architect..sorry.. Serac, or that she was put back into the simulation so that Rehoboam could speak with her. Serac could be or was a living person but I think it is for more likely that what Maeve met was a virtual avatar.

Rehoboam/Serac is trying to safeguard humanity. We keep seeing these anomalies through its eyes. It was designed to develop strategies. Maeve is that strategy but it needs to see both that she is capable but also to judge how she would react to its offer. Flesh and blood Serac is too important to risk even with a cut off switch so it makes way more sense that this is still a simulation.
