Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Thanks so much for reading out my letter and I enjoyed the show which is so more professional than some others I’ve heard were the presenters/hosts have interesting musings but are unable to remember the names of the characters?!

Gene, it wasn’t until I moved to the USA that I heard the term “Black Irish” and I was asked did I know the Moors had visited our shores? I haven’t researched that but we’ve had many visitors/invaders to our island through time.

When you played the compilation of Delaney’s grunts at the end of your piece it got me thinking when he and Zilpha were getting it on he was as quiet as a mouse, also he didn’t return her advances in the church or when she arrived at his house after killing Thorne?! It might be a red herring i.e. they want us to believe James is not quite human. Also when Zilpha is bathed in the light from the fire it does seem to make her more foreign looking so is Anna her mother and not James’ who the Dickens knows

I did wonder was the show sending itself up a bit in the graveyard i.e. James digging the grave resplendent in his coat and and Zilpha seems to be touched and then aroused by that act so much so that I was surprised they didn’t get it on there and then. Of course it was much more romantic/dramatic having him sweep into her house and stride up the stairs in his muddy boots however I’m assuming the director said Oona I want you to look all surprised to see James and act all innocent and perplexed (like I don’t want to get it on with you as you are mucky and sweaty) which I thought was gas based on earlier i.e. Irish phrase for strange and funny all rolled into one.

Has Lorna put her acting career on hold to become Detective or the spy she really is….I wish they had fleshed out Zilpha’s character more or did they stick the incest story in so they could call the show Taboo which is great name so who can blame them

I might be letting my sympathy for Oona Chaplin who is portraying Zilpha cloud my judgment here as she’s been killed, cheated on in previous parts and in this show so far she’s had a lot of abuse inflicted on her plus not much dialogue to utter, unlike lucky Lorna.

Anyway, I’m feeling a bit tabooed out re the many theories out there so I’m going to let it unfold and enjoy the remaining episodes.

Enjoying your show and look forward to the next one
