The Optimal Westworld Watching Experience

Hey Guys,

I’m a long time listener since early on in season 1 and have really enjoyed your coverage and takes on the show and I really think having your podcast as a companion piece has really added another level of enjoyment to the show for me.

Now at the end of the second season, my wife has shown an interest in the show and would like to start watching from the start. I’m also very much looking forward to starting again too, I think the view will be even better without the tin toil hat filter in the way.

What I am trying to work out and would really like your take on is, as a new comer to Westworld, what do you think the best way to watch the two seasons so far is? As a background, we both really enjoyed Lost until it went off the rails and stopped bothering answering questions but I feel she will get frustrated with the back and forth of the show and the lack of “solid ground” as you guys call it and the lack of answers and asking too many questions, especially in the second half of season 1. I don’t want to be that person who has to stop the show and explain things, but at the same time don’t want her to feel as lost and stupid as the show sometimes make you feel if you a certain scenes with a different perspective than what the creators want you to. I think it’s safe to say viewers don’t like feeling stupid when watching a show, so avoiding this would be my aim. As I am writing this, I am thinking of a post show conversation we should have with some questions like what happened, what this means, what questions we have left, what questions we still haven’t answered etc

Are there spoilers you think are safe to give away (if any) and at what point that will help understand what’s going on? IE I think it would help early in the show perhaps to know that the show is being shown at two different time frames, but then that makes the MIB/William reveal less shocking.

As nice as it would be to to follow up each episode with your deepdive episodes, unfortunately we just won’t have the time for this.

Really looking forward to season 3, and season 3 of the Westworld TV show too 😉
