Theory: Timeline for Caleb’s “Treatment”

Hey Shat Hosts,

After hearing Ash speak about the possibility of having multiple sessions of reeducation I think there is solid evidence to confirm this theory. It breaks down into 3 phases of Caleb’s life.

Phase 1: Caleb is identified by Solomon/Rehoboam as an outlier and assigned to the military. His team is ambushed, leading to the “failure” of his mission, and he is sent back for his first round of reeducation.

Phase 2: Caleb has undergone round one of reeducation, which seems to have worked, and is now (likely unknowingly) working for Serac using the RICO app to hunt down other outliers. When Caleb and Franics capture Whitman, Franics makes a point to say that RICO instructs them NOT to talk to the people they capture. When Caleb removes the tape from Whitman’s mouth and allows him to speak, the response of Rehoboam (or Solomon?) is to again identify Caleb as an outlier and recalculate the plan. This is why Francis receives the order to kill Caleb. Then, as Whitman talks more, Rehoboam continues to assess the situation and realizes the outcomes are either A) Francis kills Caleb or B) Caleb kills Francis. With either outcome, the survivor would be taken and and be reeducated once again. It plays out with Caleb killing Francis. Since he now knows too much, Caleb is again taken in for reeducation.

Phase 3: Caleb comes out of a second session of reeducation therapy. He now has implanted memories of Francis being killed in Russia and given the rest of his backstory. Somewhere soon after, he meets Delores and the rest is history.
