Use EMP Weapons To Shut the Hosts Down

Hey Guys,

Some things need to be said. #1. A person can like this episode and think it was a waste of time and filler. They aren’t mutually exclusive. It was, in fact, a waste of time. While one could the argue the episode advanced the overall plot, it could all have been done differently. You can’t introduce a new character like this in season 2, episode 8 and expect anyone to care. It’s kind of insulting to present strange arguments like, “The show has demonstrated in can be more than a mystery box.” We know. We watched last season. We get it. Perhaps a better comment could have been, “This season has demonstrated in can be more than a mystery box.” Well, of course. Get better writers. The fact that many fans see this as filler is a good indication it was. Again. I liked the episode. It was well acted. It was shot beautifully. Those are strawman arguments. Non-filler episodes often have these same traits. #2. If you search for “BTS: Ghost Nation | Westworld | Season 2,” you’ll see they wanted to do NA episode. It’s just that. All of the information relayed in the episode could have been done through dialogue or micro flashbacks that could have taken less than ten minutes. Perhaps it was just “Muh Diversity.” That’s likely as well. #3. Why isn’t anyone talking about Maeve? If she’s controlling the other hosts like that, cut her head off and throw it into a Faraday cage until you figure something out. Pretty simple solution to a huge problem. I feel as though the show has some problems like this throughout. Someone should be asking the writers some very basic questions with most of them in the form of, “Why doesn’t X do Y?” It would go a long way. Some of them are basic statements. Like-Why don’t they just detonate the explosives in their backs to stop the host uprising? And if they can’t do that, use dogs to sniff out the explosives and track them down? Like-Why don’t they use drones? Like-Use EMP weapons to shut the hosts down. You don’t need to shoot them and “kill” them. Like-Why don’t they just use simple metal detectors and pass a wand over their head. That beep sound would sure be a dead giveaway as to who’s a host and who’s a human. Etc. I love the show. It’s amazing. But it could be even better by having a few IT people on staff or former military types to help with some plot holes. They could be worked out in a few hours, and it would make it even better. The word of the day is “verisimilitude.” Also, you guys continue to do a great job, and I look forward to all of your casts. Thanks for all that you do. Should I send this to your telegraph or is it too much? (Sorry, last thing. I’m super happy none of you are sperging out on the idea of “Future World.” The show is already set several decades in the future. It’s already “Future World.” If they were to make it any more future, the budget would go off the rails. HBO is in it to make money, and they want to keep their costs down. The CGI budget for something like “Future World” wouldn’t make sense financially. So thank you for that!)?

They could relayed this info through the characters we already know. We’ve had 8 hours to do this. In my opinion, introducing a character arc in episode 8 of season 2 isn’t a good move. We likely won’t see much of him again in this season, and if we do, at what expense? That’s time we should be spending on Delores, which I think most of us agree has become boring and lifeless. The information was critical but the not way they did it. If he was important, we should have seen him more in season 1. Lisa Joy wanted to make a Native American episode. She said this in the “Behind the Scenes.” That’s what this was.?
