Westworld Finale – So Many Questions

Hey Shat Crew,

I enjoyed the final episode of Westworld season 4. I enjoyed the whole season. As much as season 1 & 2? Hell no, but it was a worthwhile way to spend an hour every Sunday night and few hours during the week listening to your pods. Then the more I thought about it, the more questions I had. Is/will human life be extinct? Who is she analyzing in the park to create a new world if humans aren’t still around? Why would she need to analyze hosts in the park if they can just be programmed or their coding analyzed? Where is this new park? The Sublime? Isn’t The Sublime already a “new world” where it seems host consciouses create their own worlds and live their best lives? Is she trying to bring “sentient life” back to the planet Earth? Wouldn’t that entail enticing host consciouses from The Sublime back into bodies to occupy the earth? The more I try to analyze it, the more confused I become, not less.

Charlotte Hale’s turn to the good was way rushed but at least there were seeds there – hosts not wanting to transcend, so many host suicides could have made her question her plan and she could have been pushed over the edge by her creation of a version of William turning on her and wanting to destroy the world AND The Sublime. I get it, but having more than 8 episodes could have let it play out much more effectively. The way things have been trending, I’m curious how many episodes Season 5 will be – 6? 4?

Ed Harris says they’re filming Season 5 next April & May, even though HBO has said nothing about renewing or cancelling Westworld for season 5. If it renews, Delores has an awful lot of questions she needs to answer, and I really don’t know if she can. If it cancels, this works pretty well as a series finale. Questions or not, I’m definitely in for season 5.

If Westworld is cancelled, could this be the final ShatOnTV series covered? I understand why you’re not doing House of the Dragon, and I also understand what an undertaking doing a TV series is – you guys put a ton of effort in, which is what makes it the best TV pod. I’m a listener from back when movies went on hiatus or slowed down when you were doing a TV series, now you have commissioned movies scheduled out two years in advance. Looks like video commissions may have killed the TV pod. Oh well, I enjoy the movie pods too, so it’s cool. Looking forward to the Westies.
