Hey Guys,

When Ford spoke Akecheta’s name he accented
the second syllable: a-KEECH-ta. So did the
lady supervisor in the Mesa. So did his
fellow Ghost Nation warrior when Emily
arrived. So did Akecheta in episode 2 when
he introduced himself to Logan. Maybe you
should too?

No character development this season, prior
to this episode? Maeve’s character has come a
long way. So has Sizemore’s, who appears to
sincerely regret the consequences of having
radioed QA for evac. (And of course,Teddy’s
mild-mannered character received quite a
boost…)

Maeve did NOT create the communications
channel with which she spoke remotely with
Akecheta. Ford-in-the-Cradle used it often
this season when he spoke through hosts to
the Man in Black. I’m curious about whether
Bernord has the power to manipulate hosts.

It was lunch time while Akecheta roamed
unseen through the Mesa. Maybe everyone was
on lunch break, up on the surface. In those
days, they might not have had much need for
security. Also, a skilled Ghost Nation
warrior could presumably hide like a ninja
when he hears footsteps or voices, until they
move on.

I too initially assumed Deathbringer is
Dolores. But that made less sense to me
after Akecheta found her corpse next to
Arnold’s. Deathbringer might just be the
Lakota name for the invisible evil spirit to
which they attribute unexplained mass slaughters.

In a previous episode, Akecheta told Stubbs
that one is alive while remembered. That
makes more sense now that we know Kohana, the
Lakota woman Akecheta loved and lost, still
lives in his memory. (I hope “remembered is
alive” isn’t a loophole in Asimov’s first law
of robotics.)

There were hints before the end of the
episode that Akecheta was communicating with
Maeve. About 10 minutes before, he said “But
it was a promise you couldn’t keep”
(according to a subtitle translation of
Lakota). Later, he told Maeve’s daughter in
English that he’d always kept her safe, but
then said in Lakota “But I couldn’t help /you/.”

I liked the guitar music at the end of the
podcast, but I think it would be better with
a faster tempo.
