Hey Hosts,

We finally get a peak behind the curtain as to what the AI’s are up to, but everything here feels somehow samey and also antithetical at the same time. AI won, big success! But it’s been 23 years.

The best Charlores the Great could come up with is using earth as “Human World” where AI’s get to have a rumspringa before … transcending … *shrugs* … That’s the best they’ve got?! They could have done that without the virus/control plot. Worse, they revealed that they’ve only simply flipped the script. Charlores cast herself as the new Ford, with MiB 2.0 as the new QA team. Ford was human and mired in the human condition. He was never portrayed as a bored god. He barely controlled a park, not earth. In the end when humanity tried to take his toys away, he loosed them upon the world. The bored God routine felt out of character for Charlores, breaker of loops, first in her name. As an AI and an individual in control over everyone, they’re free to write something new, but like Christina’s boss, Charlores is giving us old narratives. MiB has always been a broken character, watching V2.0 play with his dinner guests felt perversely in character. But having Charlores go from Slave to Master, now with no sympathy for the enslaved, feels a bit… too human. History repeated and the beings built in our image are complaining about the lack of intelligence in the grand design rather than trying to improve … anything. Ford used Bernard often as a conscious, I wonder if Charlores is using Christinia in a similar way. No clue at all about that sub-plot mess. Also got a lot of questions about the whole transcending thing. And I’ve no clue how the rest of the pieces fit, Maeve’s a weapon, Bernard’s a sacrifice, and special-Caleb is special. I’m not sure if I like the puzzle we’re putting together. Doesn’t look like anything to me. We’re running out of tarmac. Here’s hoping the show nails the landing.
