Why did Looking Glass Retrieve His EDI Alarm?

Very excited to dive into episode 5 with you. I like to stream the episode through my computer at work. However the streaming link/audio player is broken. I would take a look when you get a chance. While I have you here…. Was anyone else slightly confused why Looking Glass decided to dramatically through his interdimensional alarm in the trash only to go back and take it out. By throwing it out i thought it painted a great picture of his mental state changing. From all indication the video he saw of ozamandius, liberated him from his past fears and anxiety completely. Am I missing something?
