How Do Wights Attach Chains to Viserion?

Ok, hoping that you can answer something for me. In the “Beyond the Wall” episode, the wights pull Viserion out of the water after he is killed by the Night King. However, the wights can’t swim. So how is it possible that they would get to the dragon in the water to shackle him and then pull him out?
