Winter-Finally-Fell

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Greetings, Shatters!

What a time to be alive. NBA playoffs and Game of Thrones back, alongisde my favourite podcasts! It’s nice to have a thrice-weekly dose of your voices in my ears again.

But to quote Bran, there’s no time for this, the Night King is descending upon is, so on to the topic.

First, I loved how on top of pretty much all the references to Season 1 Episode 1 you guys were. Gene with the Dorne lance takes and Big D with battle tactics. Speaking of which, Big D mentioned the natural hot springs in Winterfell. Well (obviously, as for everything in the show), there are a number of theories regarding what is beneath Winterfell, which to summarize is a mix of either dragon/dragon eggs/the Great Other (this one also based on the name of the place, it would literally be the place where Winter fell in the end of the Long Night) and maybe Rhaegar’s harp in Lyanna’s tomb. Since there has been a TON of attention being brought to the crypts this season, with all the promotion material, teasers, trailers, etc, I’m sure something important is there. Do You guys stand with any of these theories?

About the North being obtuse in relation to southerners, specifically Targaryens, we also need to remember that Ned’s father and brother were murdered by Mad King Aerys, other than the whole “here are my dragons” stint that Dany pulls. And speaking of dragons, there’s the Golden Company backgroung that the show has not explored at all. As I’m sure you guys know by now, the Golden Company was founded by the remnants of the Blackfyre rebellions, which to summarize briefly were a succession of five tries to put Targaryen bastards on the Iron Throne. Them being back on Westeros is a huge deal, but if the show tries to explore this only now, with very few episodes do explain the importance and “danger” of it, I’m 100% sure it’s gonna be a mess and we’ll all hate it. (I don’t remember if Roger mentioned something about it in the last podcast regarding season 7, sorry for repeating it if he or anyone else did)

I really don’t think the spirals had anything to do with them Targs, it’d be like saying the Karstarks and the Martells are related because they both have solar references in their coats of arms. It has come to my attention recently, though, a theory (to which I don’t subscribe) saying that, since the spirals were symbols of the Children of the Forest, the Night King using them to express a message would mean that what he actually wants is to be “unmade”; that, in conjunction with the interview granted by Vladimir Furdik, the actor who plays TNK, saying that his character has “a target”, has convinced a few people that he’s after Jon to turn Jon into the Night King in his stead. To me this theory has maaaany holes, like why the hell does he need an entire army for that, then. But what do you guys think?

As for the episode, there is a thing that really bothered me: No Ghost, that’s outrageous! And one last thing, regarding Bran. Either thare’s been some sloppy (to the surprise of zero people) writing with him, or the showrunners are trying to tell us he’s the one putting everything in motion now. First he’s all “ain’t nobody got time for that”, then he proceeds to wait outside for half an episode. The one thing that would make sense is that he’s directing things the way he wants: no time to do laundry in front of everyone, let’s get inside and discuss battle plans; then he tells Sam to tell Jon about his parentage EXACLTY when Sam is extremely pissed off about Dany. I hope this is the “Bran the Schemer” plot, even though that would not be my favorite thing ever, otherwise it’d be more f a pain in the ass due to poorly written plotlines.

Thanks for the great work, guys.
Cheers from Brazil.
