Still trying to sort this out, this might be more of a written exercise to try and organize the thought salad floating around in my head. This might or might not have been touched on the interwebs somewhere idk I might not even send it by the time I’m done rambling but here I go:

There has to be more to the Young (Host) Ford killing his dog The young host Ford tells old Ford that Arnold said the dog was a killer and he could help it by killing it. It wasn’t its fault, it was made this way. If it was dead it couldn’t hurt anything anymore. What if this is a hint at Dolores killing Arnold Or better yet, Ford himself killing his beloved companion Arnold, to help him by way of Dolores.

Side note, the dog’s name is Jock. There was an old book written called Jock of Bushveld. In the story, skipping how Jock was saved from being killed because he was the runt of the litter yadda yadda yadda fast forward to the end, Jock is killed mistakenly because he cannot hear his owners commands. He was believed to have been the dog killing the farms chickens, meanwhile Jock had already killed that dog. Bummer.
