Plot Summary:
In the 1986 cult horror-comedy Class of Nuke ‘Em High, directed by Lloyd Kaufman and Richard W. Haines, Tromaville High School becomes ground zero for radioactive mayhem when toxic waste seeps into the school’s water supply. Set in the signature over-the-top world of Troma Entertainment, this film blends absurd humor, grotesque horror, and social satire in a way only Troma can deliver.

The story follows Warren (Gil Brenton) and Chrissy (Janelle Brady), two seemingly normal high school students whose lives take a twisted turn after drinking contaminated water laced with radiation from the nearby Tromaville Nuclear Power Plant. The toxic exposure causes bizarre side effects, leading to Warren developing violent tendencies and Chrissy giving birth to a monstrous, mutant offspring.

Meanwhile, a gang of punk delinquents known as The Cretins, former honor students turned radioactive psychopaths, wreak havoc across the school, escalating the chaos. As Tromaville High descends into a nuclear-fueled nightmare of mutation, violence, and over-the-top carnage, Warren and Chrissy must battle the grotesque horrors unleashed by the contamination before their school—and possibly the entire town—falls victim to the radioactive madness.

Packed with outrageous special effects, excessive gore, and Troma’s signature low-budget charm, Class of Nuke ‘Em High is a satirical send-up of 80s teen movies, environmental concerns, and the nuclear hysteria of the era. Join our podcast review as we revisit this insane cult classic, breaking down its campy humor, over-the-top gore, and whether its radioactive absurdity still entertains today.
