Beware the Cyclops

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hi guys,

Two thoughts after watching the episode. First, I think the use of an elephant for the nostalgia treatment was very purposeful. We have always been told, “an elephant never forgets.” It seems an odd paradox to treat someone with cerebral fluid from an animal that never forgets to allow that person to “forget” their memories.

Second, I have been thinking more about the warning “Beware of the Cyclops” and the general talk of Cyclops. In the movie and graphic novel, Dr. Manhattan has a marking on his forehead (one filled in small circle and a larger circle around it). I don’t believe there is an explanation in the movie or novel about this marking. However, it now strikes me that this could look like an eyeball or a “cyclops.”

I’m not sure how much merit there is to that theory seeing as how Will Reeves/Hooded Justice was warned about Cyclops before Dr. Manhattan was every created. However, if Dr. Manhattan does not experience time like we do, I suppose anything would be possible.

I very much enjoy the show and hope to hear you discuss this on the newsstand.
