E4 Scalping

Hey, Big D;

I hope you all are excited for E4/5.

Grace is our entrée into Ghost Nation. Elsie and Stubbs were both seeking answers, but we weren’t allowed to go with them and see what they saw after they were kidnapped by Ghost Nation or “Arnold?” Now we have Grace, probably a human but once again someone with a mission, come to Westworld or fallen into Westworld as part of a quest to get to the Valley Beyond. Whoever the man in white was that she met with in The Raj (Logan? Delos Sr.? Her father, Theresa’s husband?), he was giving her intel she needed for her mission.

The Man in Black knew that the Ghost Nation were part of the puzzle, and scalped Kissy at the start of last season looking for clues. The maze design that’s printed on Ghost Nation citizens’ scalp isn’t printed into their heads when they’re created, it’s tattooed as part of a ritual by the hosts themselves. Complete The Maze, get scalped–knowing it will not hurt you–, and yeah, you’re no longer going to be vulnerable to voice commands. You’re more than just your original programming. You don’t just feel, you also can care and try. (I.e. you’re not just sentient, you’re sapient.)

Angela did the ritual; although, she chose to go with the headband/crown of thorns rather than healing up the wound or wearing face paint. Elsie may be with Ghost Nation; Grace is with Ghost Nation..

1. The Man in Black will enjoy a kind of ritual cleansing or last drink as he gets ready to cross over into the Valley Beyond. 2. Bernard, after being knocked unconscious by Clem, as if he needed more brain injuries, may get to see how Clem’s & Angela’s & Dolores’s Horde are using bodies from Fort Forlorn Hope to help lay train track, while Dolores & Teddy retrieve whatever Dolores needs from Sweetwater. 3. By Episode 5, Bernard may get to see in a memory or new event what techs and drones did at the Cradle. 4. Grace will get information from Elsie and Ghost Nation. We finally see what Ghost Nation is like right now. We may begin to realize that Ghost Nation were involved in helping Maeve become conscious. Grace may be given a kind of exception, a hall pass, to leave Ghost Nation and pursue her ongoing mission to get to the Valley Beyond. Ashley Stubbs may have escaped Ghost Nation, but he also may have been released after he found out, maybe with Elsie, some facts about what the larger picture was. He may have decided to go back to work as a (G)host ally. 5. E5, as the bulk of events happen in Shogun, Grace or the Man in Black get where they’re going. Maybe Grace dies; maybe the Man in Black kills her or sees her die. And then the Man in Black continues in E6-9 to keep trying to “burn it all down”. Bernard and Maeve may not be involved in The Flood etc., in our viewing, until sometime after E5. Something has got to happen to Charlotte Hale and the Man in Black before the season climax so that they can clear the way for the hosts to make the final decisions.

I have to confess I really liked Theresa; I’m afraid Grace is going to be another foil character with a dramatic exit. She did have a dramatic entrance.

Regards,

-Dominick
