Game of Thrones Episode 2 Instant Take: “A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms”
Two episodes and no major battles? No major deaths? It’s true, and it’s glorious. “Game of Thrones” is playing the long game on a short season, showing that HBO has grown and evolved to always show the audience something better than they knew they wanted.
Season 8 Episode 2 made us throw away our notebooks and just feel along with these characters, reminding us of how much we’ve grown to love them over the years and how much their wholesale deaths are going to hurt.
But it wasn’t all gloom and doom. Arya’s secret weapon was revealed. And then ARYA was revealed, leaving us all feeling a little bit like we just watching our niece disrobe.
Ghost showed up. Jon revealed his true name to Dany, and the Night King was conspicuously absent to his own party. Plus we saw the abbreviated trial of Jaime Lannister, the knighting of Brienne, and discovered why they call Tormound “Giantsbane.”
Storyline for Episode 2: “A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms”
Jaime reveals Cersei’s deception to the Targaryen””Stark alliance and, despite Daenerys’s and Sansa’s mistrust, joins their forces after Brienne defends his loyalty. Jaime later apologizes to Bran for crippling him, with Bran stating he is not angry, and they are no longer the same people. Tyrion loses Daenerys’ favor for believing Cersei, prompting Jorah to ask her to forgive his mistakes. Citing their mutual love for Jon, Daenerys tries and fails to gain Sansa’s trust after refusing to give any assurances about the North’s fate. Theon, Edd, Tormund, and Beric arrive at Winterfell, with the latter three reporting House Umber’s fall. Bran proposes that he lure out the Night King, who intends to destroy the Three-Eyed Raven. His plan is reluctantly approved, with Theon and the Ironborn offering protection. Gendry finishes a special weapon for Arya, who then seduces him. Tyrion, Jaime, Davos, Brienne, Podrick, and Tormund gather for a drink, during which Jaime formally knights Brienne. Jorah fails to dissuade Lyanna Mormont from fighting, and he receives House Tarly’s ancestral sword as a gift from Sam. As the Army of the Dead approaches, Daenerys finds Jon at Lyanna Stark’s tomb and learns about his Targaryen lineage and claim to the Iron Throne.

Love the show. Wanted to drop my two cents off. I think that Dany and her dragons will die. I always loved Dany, but lately I do not think she will make the best ruler. I agree with other comments saying she is just more of the same for Westeros, she is not breaking the wheel. Everyone else has had a redemption arc, I believe her redemption arc will be sacrificing herself and her dragons to ensure that life continues. We saw her reaction to Jon explaining who he was, she immediately went to “you are going to try and take my throne” instead of “WTF the man I love is my nephew?!”. Also the dragons are awesome but once they die that is it. It’s not like there is any other dragons for them to breed with ( i am assuming they are both male?) It would make sense that the dragons come back to save humanity and then die. Anyways that is what I am thinking these days!
Dany hasn’t sacrificed her life, but you could see in “The Long Night” that she was willing to die for her people. Note that Jon tried to be strategic and hold the dragons until the Night King surfaced, but Dany countered, “Death is already here” and flew to rescue the Unsullied.
