My WTF in response to one of yours: how could you think it was snowing in King’s Landing? That was ASH, dudes, from the city being on fire.

    • Gene Lyons says:

We thought it was ash, but the common consensus now seems to be snow. I’m still going with the “nuclear winter” compromise.

OH never mind. Disregard my previous comment.

My bad. (long day). All the best!

Hi Jackie! We really do try to offer each listener a voice on the Small Council. Our week is spent reading every email and listening to every voice mail, then selecting those we think will be most useful to the listeners. The sad fact is not everyone will be on the podcast, but everyone earns a spot on the website.

Great episode guys. Truly, it’s been a pleasure listening to yall.

I’m sad though. I wrote in an email and tried offer a different perspective. Sadly, I suppose it fell by the way side. Oh well. There’s always next time!

    Keep up the great work.

Hey guys another great podcast. Thank you so much for all the hard work you guys put in, I strongly suggest everyone goes through and tries read a couple of the emails in full form just to see exactly what they do. It’s amazing. So seriously, thank you, everything was great with the cast, def. No argument can be had with that.

It’s a useless conversation, but I guess I wonder if they should have just went with an ending all of their own and separate from George’s. Come out right away and say the show ending and the book ending will be both completely different. Idk it’s going go be something that will be second guessed for awhile obviously.

It was obvious in S7 speed and plot was sped up times 1000 and we were going to get a rushed ending to this show. I’m with gene but I’m not disappointed and I think similar to gene, I already knew it was a different show, my expectations weren’t nearly as high. i viewed it as more time to see my favorite characters on my favorite show. That’s been my view point all along. I honestly don’t blame anyone for wanting to move on. In essence, time is the most valuable thing at the end of the day. They gave us 10 years and thanks for that, not many shows do that, it’s plain and simple, and most def don’t do that at the level they had. Its hard to blame anyone for things when we are missing the entire context to base any explanation on. Sure someone would have paid them, but who are we to say they should continue doing something for money if they want to take time and be with family or even do something else. We are free to choose, and I just don’t hold people responsible for something like this because they never owed me or any of us anything. We got this show, it was amazing and still is, it’s s1-s6 and moments in S7 and s8 that will push and pull on emotions. It had you invested. You watched it despite it going to hell. It means you cared enough. It’s a little crazy to be angry at someone for something they are responsible for even creating in the first place, plenty of other shows and showrunners screwed up a great story. We are lucky this combo worked for GRRM’S story. They are responsible for the creation, as much as the destruction so it evens out in the end in my book. But I’m not an angry person so…..

It’s like being a fan of a baseball team, you love them when they win and when they lose. Players have good and bad games, it’s how it goes. I see this TV show as the same thing. But this team, won the championship 6 years in a row, sure you’re upset that it didn’t win S7 and S8, but to dismiss the championship formula is insane. It’s been there, sustained greatness doesn’t exist. Everything fades with time. Everything.
