Nuclear Bunker Plot Armour, Asassins Creed – Arya Edition

Hello guys,

a listener from across the pond here. I started listening to “on the throne” with the first episode of S7 and got hooked in a jiffy.

When S8 got closer, I was really looking forward to hearing from you again.

Now, after watching Episode 3 I felt like I needed to write to you. (you know, just your average millennial thinking his opinions is important as fuck).

I really loved how you guys commented on the battle tactics with a more professional approach, and I want to add to that first:

I expected the battle (and our heroes) to focus on finding and killing the walkers and using bows and fast-moving Dothraki. (why didn’t they just burn the trebuchets and Dothraki themselves?????)

The biggest concern that I had with the overall strategy was the “trap” that they put up for the night king. How could they rely on Theon just saving the day, or did anyone plan that Arya-ex-machina??? Crossbows, Longbows, maybe a fucking scorpion with dragon glass bolts would have been ideal to take sharp shots at their primary targets.

Plus walkers and the Night King being hit by those massive scorpion bolts from a long distance would have been the coolest thing ever! Instead, Arya went on some sort of kamikaze mission. (don’t get me wrong, her fighting was beyond everything I ever wished for.)

concerning the dragons: If you don’t pilot some rocket plane, coming from below will put you in a massive disadvantage. The two living dragons would have seen (or heard) them coming and would have torn their undead brother to shreds. …And why don’t they go for the wings with their claws?

Last bit of moaning: I like how so many heroes survived for the next episodes to come…but how. Brienne and Jamie had a fucking nuclear bunker of plot armor around them at any given time.

However: I think the way the night king started the blizzard was just a perfect idea and was executed perfectly by the producers. It just makes so much sense for him to disable the living with this strategy, although it would have been easy for his white walkers to ground the dragons in a clear sky.

I think HBO really hit a sweet spot with how they made the viewer feel the pure chaos and horror of the battle.

Now i am looking forward to seeing how they all get together and defeat Cersei with no army…(little finger and the knight of the plothole?) Let’s just hope that the renewed bond between Sansa and Tyrion will play a role in the future.

And that’s it. Looking forward to the deep dive (go full Mariana trench please), I hope I can add to your library of viewer opinions.

Greetings from Germany,

Tillman L
