Hello,

I am new to the podcast but enjoy what I have heard so far. I feel like I am the only one not buying into the two timeline theory and I feel like I have a solid counter argument. When Delores shoots the host that is trying to rape her in the barn she has a flashback to the man in black which is the trigger that allows her to pull the trigger. She then rides off and collapses in Williams lap beginning her journey with him. I have read an argument saying

“The episode ends with Dolores retreating from the farm and stumbling into William’s arms. It’s hard to tell exactly what’s happening, and more importantly when it’s happening. But remember: Dolores sees her new dad first, then she recalls seeing her old dad; the mustachioed bandit locks Dolores in the barn first, then she recalls her Man in Black encounter. The pattern is present, past; present, past. If the end of the ranch scene follows this same pattern, Dolores receives a bullet to the stomach first, then she recalls escaping, unscathed, to William. In other words, the last scene of this episode is a memory of the past” –DOLORES IS KEY TO A ‘WESTWORLD’ TWIST YOU MAY HAVE MISSED

But if the current scenario is in the past, how is Delores able to just pick up a gun and fire like it’s no big deal when it took so much for her to overcome this in the present. She is not playing a different character with William because there is a time in one of the cities where some host or employee tries to bring her back to her ranch before William asks what’s happening and he lets her go.

If you rewatch this scene it is an interaction specifically between Delores and the host or employee and William accidentally saves her from intervention.
