Hey Guys!

It’s been a while since I’ve last written back during Season 2… Just wanted to shout out I am loving your Season 3 coverage, especially during these crazy times. Your podcasts give me a welcome respite from all the doom and gloom we hear about our ongoing pandemic. I loved S3, Episode 4 which piqued my interest about Serac’s story line. I just wanted to point out something I noticed in one of the earliest Westworld season 3 teaser trailers and I wanted to get your thoughts on it. I’m talking about the black circular representation of various divergences happening in the not too distant future.

The first date called out is 06.12.19 – A Divergence in Hong Kong, Political unrest – Wide Scale Protests. A graphical marker is quickly drawn between the description and a pulsating peak, clearly marking this point in time on the circular timeline. More events and dates are called out in succession, along with the graphical marking of each event-peak along the circle. These events seem to simply trace along the circle in a counterclockwise direction starting from 06.12.19. We see the US Presidential Impeachment (12.18.19), an Ecological Collapse in Indonesia (05.20.20), the assassination in Buenos Aires (12.09.24), the thermonuclear incident in Paris (10.09.25), and the Russian Civil War (02.19.37).

I noticed when the voice actor of Serac states that for the first time “…history has an author, a system…” we see the description of 04.17.39 “System Initiated – Undisclosed Location – Solomon Build 0.06”. Based on this date, you would expect this marker to point to a spot on the circle somewhere to the left after the Russian Civil War date of 02.19.37. HOWEVER, the Solomon marker clearly is a point midway between, Paris and Russia of approximately 2032.

How can the Solomon date of 04.17.39 which is after the Russian civil war in 02.19.37 be marked on the circle BETWEEN the year 2025 and 2037? I know that the show runners are very deliberate with their graphical choices on screen – even for their trailers; and I can’t believe that this is simply a mistake on their part. With each of the called out dates, the markers point to a peak on the outside of the circle. But when Solomon is marked, it is not designated an external peak but rather on internal spot of the circle underneath the peaks. Perhaps this telling us that even though the system goes online in 2039 as stated, it was able to start accurately mapping to human history between 2025 and 2037. This is only possible because Serac got hold of Westworld guest data 20 years prior to the show’s current year (assumed to be 2058); somewhere in 2038. And then it took some months for the data to be uploaded and implemented on 04.17.39. I believe, that the deterministic nature of Rehobo’s predictive algorithm starting mapping out human history around 2032 because it was based on the first set of Westworld guest memories. The system builders then compared the history predicted by Rehobo since 2032, and found that it was really coinciding with reality; thus validating their system.

It’s interesting that Serac told Maeve that the system stopped working very recently, possibly due to the Divergences with the arrival of Dolores. Maybe Serac is after more guest data to continue writing human history. What do you guys think? Can’t wait for the rest of the season to unfold along with your valuable insight.

Sincerely,

Ron A.
