Hi Guys,

Listening to the new Podcast right now and thought I’d answer a question you posed….

The wolf in the Episode is a Timber (Grey) Wolf. I see no GOT reference here. But I do have some training in the Native American belief in Spirit Animals and other symbols, and their meaning. (One of my best friends is a Medicine Woman….and I mean card carrying, certified Medicine Woman)

There are two ways to look at an animal totem.

1. Personal Life Totem:
Your personal spirit animal will show up over and over during the course of your life. This is an animal you have an affinity to and references to which crop up throughout your life going back to childhood. There is a fantastic book on this subject called ” Animal Speak” written by Ted Andrews. This is the premier reference volume on this subject and I encourage you to buy it and read it as I’m sure these types of reference will continue to come up in Westworld. I also suggest that you spend some time learning about your personal Animal Totem and the medicine it brings you. It’s a great life skill.

2. Medicine Animal:
This is not your totem animal, but can be. Generally, this is an animal that comes into your life (or dreams) that may be a one-time occurrence or stay for a period of time as you traverse some season or period of your life. Generally, I know that an animal is bringing me medicine when it shows up in an odd place or I have reoccurring contact several times over the course of a day or week. This is a cue that the animal is delivering “medicine” that I need to pay attention to.

Here is the general inference when the Wolf Totem shows up in your life, dreams, etc. In other words, this is coming from the second point above as a reference meant to convey meaning in the show. I don’t think the wolf is representative as a life totem for either Delores or Teddy. This is a symbolism vehicle only….
