Plot Summary: In the 1976 horror classic Carrie, directed by Brian De Palma and based on Stephen King’s debut novel, Sissy Spacek delivers an unforgettable performance as Carrie White, a shy and awkward high school girl who is mercilessly bullied by her classmates. Raised by her fanatically religious mother, Margaret White (Piper Laurie), Carrie endures a life of strict control and emotional abuse. Her mother’s extreme beliefs and harsh punishments leave Carrie isolated, with no friends and little understanding of the world beyond her home.

When Carrie experiences her first menstrual period in the school locker room, her classmates cruelly mock her, throwing tampons and shouting insults. This traumatic event triggers something deep within Carrie: telekinetic powers that she struggles to control. As Carrie’s powers begin to manifest, she learns she can move objects with her mind, setting the stage for a climactic release of her pent-up emotions and rage.

Meanwhile, Sue Snell (Amy Irving), one of Carrie’s classmates, feels guilty for participating in the bullying and convinces her boyfriend, Tommy Ross (William Katt), to take Carrie to the prom as a gesture of kindness. Reluctantly, Carrie accepts Tommy’s invitation, hoping for a chance at normalcy and a night to feel accepted. However, another group of vengeful classmates, led by the vindictive Chris Hargensen (Nancy Allen) and her boyfriend Billy Nolan (John Travolta), plot a cruel prank to humiliate Carrie in front of the entire school.

The infamous prom scene, where Carrie is doused in pig’s blood, marks a turning point in the film. Pushed beyond her limits, Carrie unleashes her telekinetic fury, exacting revenge on those who tormented her in a violent, fiery climax that cements the film’s place in horror history.
