Leon: The Professional (1994)
Léon: The Professional Quote: “I don’t have time for this MICKEY MOUSE BULLSH*T!” – Norman Stansfield
When you want a hitman, you hire the best. When you want a review of your favorite 90’s film, you hire Shat the Movies(?). That’s the conclusion Mike from Quincy reached when he commissioned the 1994 English-language French action thriller, #TheProfessional.
Shat on TV’s Rookie of the Year, Ash joins Roger & Big D in Little Italy to follow a reserved Jean Reno, a sadistic Gary Oldman, and a younger-than-we-remembered Natalie Portman in a movie that was robbed by “”Wild Reeds”” at the 20th Cesar Awards.
Ash explores the complexity of Matilda’s relationship with Leon while Rog explores the purity symbolism of milk in classic cinema. Big D asks the question: “”Is Leon slow, or is he just foreign?””. All three hosts swim in the uncomfortableness of that scene with the dress. You know the one.
So, let’s head to the corner bodega for two quarts. It’s the latest episode of STM.
Plot Summary: “Léon: The Professional” Mathilda (Natalie Portman) is only 12 years old, but is already familiar with the dark side of life: her abusive father stores drugs for corrupt police officers, and her mother neglects her. Léon (Jean Reno), who lives down the hall, tends to his houseplants and works as a hired hitman for mobster Tony (Danny Aiello). When her family is murdered by crooked DEA agent Stansfield (Gary Oldman), Mathilda joins forces with a reluctant Léon to learn his deadly trade and avenge her family’s deaths.
