Hey guys and Ashley!

My name is Gabriela and I’ve been a listener of the podcast since season 1. I’ve always tought about sending you an e-mail, but never felt more entitled then this time to comment on something.

As a Brazilian watcher of Westworld I couldn’t be more disappointed with the way the show pictured my country. I know Brazil isn’t perfect, but last season, I couldn’t help but imagine how a Brazilian Delos park would be after one of you commented on the possibility during the deep dive (kudos to you for mentioning back then that Brazilian people speak portuguese). Now, a season latter, we got to see how the creators of the show depicted a modern Brazil: as a jungle in wich their own president can’t speak Portuguese!

How couldn’t they find a Brazilian actor to represent our president? They’ve hired freaking Rodrigo Santoro, which proves that we do have good actors! Couldn’t they have asked him “Hey Santoro, don’t you have anyone who could speak a few lines for us?” Instead, they hired an american actor with a latino ascendece, revalidating the stereotipe that all latino people look alike. Come on! Even Vincent Cassel could speak better Portuguese than him (since he lives in Rio de Janeiro since 2013).

Moreover, Brazil is known to have big metropolitan cities, shuch as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro. Even Brasilia (our capital, where the president would be) is well known for being a state of the art city designed by Oscar Niemeyer. Not even the map Serac points to matched any part of northern Brazil.

The only thing they were able to guess was that our politicians can’t help but being corrupted ??

Overall, the Brazilian watchers of the show felt really disappointed and offened and I would personally like to invite all the listeners of the podcast to get to know more about our country and culture.

I love you guys (and gal) and the podcast. Keep up the exelent work!

Lots of love from Brazil,

Gabriela Guastalli
