Maze = Brain = True Consciousness

Hey Guys,

What if the maze was a visual and artistic representation of the human brain?

If you take cross-section of the human brain and put it side by side with the map of the maze you can start to see similarities between the two. Further more, perhaps Arnold and Ford represent both sides of the brain (the left and the right).

In earlier episodes, Ford is explaining the different levels of the pyramid to Bernard. There are four portions: memory, improvisation, self-interest and a top level left blank. When AI reaches the top level of the pyramid it is said to reach true consciousness.

We see shades of memory, improvisation and self-interest with both Dolores and Maeve. Both characters can remember past events, both characters have been breaking away from their loop by improvising and both now seem to have their self-interest at heart. Perhaps the top level of the pyramid is the maze itself, as in the brain or the bicameral mind that we heard Ford briefly explain.

Perhaps reaching the maze is a metaphor for attaining true conciseness and this is why we have heard several hosts tell The Man in Black that the maze is not meant for him. This would make sense since he is already human, he would have no need for the maze.

Is the central theme the maze being a representation of the human brain and the last level to reach true consciousness?

Is it the answer to all the questions we’ve been searching for all this time. Assuming that The Man In Black is in fact in love with Dolores, might he be searching for the maze because he knows that it is the last step to free Dolores from her shackles here in the park?

Has he secretly been leading Dolores to the maze step by step; planting the gun, dragging her to the barn so she could have that memory so she would shoot her would be killer and eventually escape.

Is it a race between Dolores and Maeve?

What do you guys think?
