Reflections of Dolores And Past Seasons

Hello Shat Squad,

Love you guys been listening for years. I had to write in because of a few things you guys brought up in the Westworld Season 3 episode 1 podcast. I found myself, talking back to your guys podcast in my bedroom alone, thinking “No guys come on, you know this!” and so I was prompted to write in.

First, WTF are you guys talking about, this seemed like a pilot for a new show? This first episode was a BRILLIANT reversal of roles, from the host to the humans. To the point of poetic film making and storytelling.

* Delores’ first scene where she steals the Delos stock owners money, was an absolute replica of the man black entering the park in episode 1. (the beginning of episode 1, where the Man in Black interrupts Teddy and Dolores’ narrative) The repeated lines like, “You don’t remember me?” PURE GENIUS! They did it so well, that many people missed all the call backs, in the first watch through. It was similar to spots all the call backs and Easter eggs in an Avengers movie. I literally had to pause and point them out!
* All of Caleb’s scenes are a retelling of Dolores story arc in season 1; complete with match up shots, camera framing, unreliable flashbacks, and a finally breaking of the loop. GENIUS, writing, Directing, camera movements!!! * AND we have CLEARLY seen in the previews that not only Bernard goes back to Westworld but Dolores and Caleb do to. (They are seen riding horses together in Westworld, in a trailer for this season.) Maeve is still in the park just not Westworld. And I feel like if you were only watching the show for the Western theme, you are missing the point. This is a SCI-FI Fantasy show, not a Western. That is the second or third layer backdrop to the actual story which is about humans and AI.
* In this episode Delores is “the guest”, the humans are ‘the host” and the real world is “the park”

Let’s not make any judgements about the story line or season, it just seems WAY too soon. Especially given the history we have with this show. Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are legit writing and directing GENIUSES, and they always have Christopher Nolan to call when they hit a wall. (Praise be to C Nolan, the count down to TENET, has begun) We need to relax and trust, they are going to absolutely kill this season. (no pun intended)

I will be writing in again, to explain a much bigger theory on how Lisa Joy and Christopher Nolan have used real MBTI personality typing and human psychology to create how the host are actually programmed. It is really crazy when you can see that there isn’t much “sci-fi or fantasy” actually in the show. The host are programmed almost exactly how real life human brains work.

Childhood trauma = host corner stones

MBTI Personality types = host core code or programming (except host are superior because they can change this, we cannot) Human Spiritual

Awakenings/Enlightenment = host becoming conscious Society Expectations or Social Structures = the park (or prison) the host live in Human Delusions or

“perspective truth” = “doesn’t look like anything to me” or the host being programmed to not see things. But a more detailed email on this later, still fleshing out the idea!

Love you guys, my partner and I have been binging Shat the Movies, keep up the good work. I love also hearing a Femme voice, who is VERY intelligent on the podcast; great addition, but Big D is still my fav. Thank you guys and looking forward to this season!

Sincerely,

I used to yell at the podcast too! So I totally get it :). I do love your points here, though. You are probably correct that after only episode we should not judge. I will try to just sit back and enjoy the story more in the coming weeks because this is Westworld, after all, and they don’t give anything away earlier than they intend to do so.
